june is camera shy

i bought the canon t2i last week and im still getting the hang of it. ive never used or owned a DSLR so its a good thing this camera is smarter than me.
IMG_0048
canon 50mm 1.4 lens

the video it takes is amazing! it has the same size sensor as the 7D so you know its clear and crisp. we got this camera for its video recording abilities buuuuut since we dont have a computer that can handle that can handle the crazy amount of information this camera records at so i probably wont be posting videos for a while. le sigh...

The first time i tried hooking up the card reader to my macbook it crashed it and that was just transferring photos and a couple of short video clips. Luckily the Genius Bar was able to fix it but being in that Apple store made me want to get us a newer desktop. I've had mine from 2002! Its a dinosaur in the computer world. AND its a PC! So, if you know anyone whos interested in a macbook that has been barely, rarely used, super clean and is only over a little year old let me know. the money we get toward that will get put to buying Final Cut Pro and the computer. I know you gotta spend money to make money but we also dont want to be in debt to anything (not counting our mortgage) and plan to do everything we can to start and run this business that way.

june gloom

june gloom//weather
june gloom//pup
on Thursday Geoff left on a turn around trip to a fest in KY. while hes been gone ive caught a serious sinus infection or something and have been pretty much in bed 24/7. junes had no one to play with or entertain her. so shes been pretty lethargic and chasing light beams has become her new favorite game. its so pathetic and cute at the same time.

yesterday, after being cooped up for 2 days in the house i went to Micheal's to try and re-create a yarn wreath i saw on etsy. $30, 2 dexter episodes and one messy living room later i got this:

this is what im going for:
...i'll let you know how it goes....

any tips on how to make my felt roses look like those?!

junes first beach trip

so, after weeks of begging and talking Geoff into taking June to the beach he finally said "lets do this!". so we did.
head out the window = heaven
we decided to take the Ortega hwy over the mtns to San Clemente since from our house its the most scenic and fastest. i drove us the way there so i could go slow-ish and not get June car sick and im actually more familiar with that road than Geoff (shocker). there were signs posted everywhere saying no dogs allowed on the beach but i didn't care. it was almost 7pm, no one was hardly around, and i just really didn't care. but Geoff was kinda spazzing about it and worried we'd get a ticket. we never did. its so nice down there. i like south orange county beaches over HB, Newport, etc. less people and its prettier looking. but, HB has the only dog friendly beach in the area. i digress...

Her first interaction with the sand was not very pleasant. she went head first into it (which is the norm for her when she has her "gentle leader" on. she tries to remove it that way), sand in her mouth and half her face. so i ran her down to the shore and had the waves wash up to her paws. she freaked. booked it away from the water so fast! i think the loud noise of the waves crashing and the initial shock of water hitting her paws was just too much. i was holding on to her leash (we kept her leashed the whole time. im still not comfortable with her unleashed out in the open like that. espesh if someone else comes around with their dog unleashed) so she pulled me out of the water and back to Geoff. i tried running her back to the waves again but as soon as we got close she planted her legs into the sand and wasn't budging! shes def not a beach dog. bummer. i really wanted to frolic in the water with her. so after walking around for a while we split and Geoff drove us home.

bffs4eva
not that hes a bad driver but she did get sick on his watch haha. about 5 mins from our house i noticed she was moving a lot in the back and then i noticed she started sniffing around. when she does that its a bad sign. i even told Geoff shes going to get sick and to slow down on the turns. as soon as i said that, BAM. BARF. in the back corner of my car. it was orange and watery (dog food + water). June has this look on her face like, im so sorry, i didn't know what to do! and with a cute face like her i just cant get mad at her for it. but i did fold the back seats up trapping the barf and her in the trunk area (its big enough) so that it didn't roll forward and get in the seats. i moved to the back and just pet her to let her know im not mad and to comfort her poor tummy. AND to keep her from eating it. as much as i wanted her to clean up her own mess, that's just wrong. haha.
the aftermath.
Geoff nearly threw up on the mess as soon as he got out of the car and looked at it, which meant that i had to do the honors. i did what i could but my car is getting detailed as i write this post haha. someone at Lenny D's is getting a good tip today!

name changes

Dumb me. I didn't realize that when we were getting our marriage license in march that THAT was my final name change on that particular document. For some reason i thought that was when you picked it up. idk why... just going to blame it on the wedding brain.
Ideally, i wanted to have my maiden name as a second middle name or hyphened and have the longest name of anyone i know with: Candice Marie Valdespino-Brouillette
I wanted to have what i call a 3-liner.
on Geoffs drivers license his full name is so long that it takes up 2 lines. Even with my old name is was just one. but with this improvement i would for sure beat him.
Negative on that plan now.
I got my social security card in the mail and will be going for my DL in a few weeks. Takes forever to get an appt these days. I'll also be getting a new picture taken for it which would be cool. its the same one from when i was 15. not like much as changes since then though.
Seeing my name like this kinda makes me sad. its so final. well maybe not sad, more nostalgic? idk.
still trying to master my name signature though.

and a quick vid of June:

i know, i know. im totally the pet parent of the year....

i go straight to the source and she actually loves it

cool things happening this week:
  • my little brother is getting married on sunday to his high school sweetheart! im so excited to them!
  • because of this i get to see my baby brother and sister AGAIN this year!
  • just bought my ticket to visit them this summer (surprise!)
  • and one of life's biggest question's will be answered tonight. in redlands. at market night. thats all im sayin' for now...

tour widows

We've been hanging out at home together every night alone since tour started again.

i think shes going through more geoff withdraws than me.

two weeks before geoff left for tour he got laid off from the church so he and june got to hang out at home all day together. they became bffs.  secret language, inside jokes and all.

on the morning geoff left i woke up to him saying, "JUNE. JUUUUUNE" in his sleep. last night i woke up at 3am to find june sitting in the patio just staring out through the fence. waiting for geoff to come walking back home.

2.23.2010

home sweeet home

this is our luxurious house: all 2500sqft, 4bdrm/2.5baths, half an acre backyard with a jacuzzi, back house for geoffs recording and practices and the white picket fence.
photo
Dream home... no, but we are still excited and feel blessed none the less for being able to live on our own. geoff kept repeating, "we're really doing this, harry!" all night.

after another huge let down on a house we were fighting for we have to throw in the towel for now. its reached that deadline where theres no way we can find a house, go through escrow and move in before we're married so we went apartment shopping on saturday. This place was our first stop because they are cheap and some of our best friends live in the track aaaaand because they dont have a breed or weight limit on dogs! did you hear that? its the sound of heaven opening! WE ARE GOING TO BE A FAMILY AGAIN. geoff, me and june. its been so long since ive seen her. Junes been living with her uncle Travis in grand terrace. frolicking on their huge property, swimming in his giant pool and chasing grandma's cats from what ive heard. And Uncle Trav has even taught her how to sit still with food on her nose and is teaching her german. We signed a long lease with this apt since God only knows what Hes doing and this buying a house business is taking so long.

enter housing talk
there were 2 house in lake elsinore that we wanted so bad we were going conventional with our offers and not even bothering with FHA. so that helped us beat literally 15 offers that were all FHA right off the bat. for both houses it was the day before the seller was going to make a decision that some lame-ass cash offer would come in and steal our spot. and naturally the investor thats selling the house wants to sell their house asap so we even went with a private lender that would be able to close escrow in 15days(the usu- is 30days)! still didnt help.
we are still waiting to hear back from the bank on a house in corona thats a short sale from november. November! NOVEMBER?! apparently, the owners took a second on this house so we have to deal with two banks instead of just a hellish one. but the owners dont live there anymore nor are they still paying it so it keeps going up on the auction block and then getting postponed every month. but its a sweet house with a lot of room and potential so we are waiting for it. but now that since its coming closer to the obama money deadline we are going to have to start going FHA and can kiss standard sales goodbye.
end realtor talk.
i could seriously talk about homes all day and have been entertaining the idea of becoming a realtor but recently geoff and i have come up with an even better career path for us.
youll see eventually.

last night, after leaving multiple deposits on our apt and credit checks, we went to sams club for a stroll and dinner. we're such an old married couple already.
photo 3
no i didnt surprise him, he posed that way.

photo 2
now we can stock up on mass quantities of toilet paper and dog food for a good price.
plus to get your 35mm film developed is so cheap!

26 days till we dont have to say goodbye every night. cant come fast enough.

im moving... again!

yep. that's right. its a long dramatic story so ill make this short:
  • Richard didn't actually own the house. his dad does.
  • dad lives in Ireland.
  • when Richard broke the news to his dad that hes moving to WA to get back with his ex wife dad got mad.
  • then dad found out that Richard was renting out the room.
  • Dick (this is when his name changes from Richard to the abbreviated form of his name) wasn't allowed to.
  • i get a not-so-nice phone call from Ireland.
  • Dick moves out the next day.
  • i need to be out by January 15th.

awesome.
this all happen within 2 hours, which was 4 hours before Sleeping Giants last show this tour, which was geoffs first day home. welcome home, honey-- im a stress case-- so glad you're back.

oh, but Dick said he'd be so gracious to write me a reference letter for my next place. thank you Mr helpful.

so ya, i think i may move into my brothers house for a month or two. just until i find out if mine and Geoff's offer on a house gets accepted. if it doesn't then ill be getting an apt which means i will need to find June a new home.
in a perfect world, my dream world:
  1. God gives us this house
  2. we have a short easy escrow
  3. i get to keep June
  4. all by march.

we're praying for extra favor from God.
honestly, i don't know what He's doing but i think this all must be to get me away from my "things" and out of any comfort zone that i once had and what i considered "home" to me. because for months now i haven't really had a home base. and each time i move i bring less and less with me. some goes to storage, some to sell and some just trashed. and moving into my little brothers house and staying in their spare bedroom will be the ultimate humbling experience. but this time i will literally be bringing nothing with me since its already furnished.
that means no more baking supplies, no sewing, less crafts, no style school projects that i paid in advanced and was looking forward to(!), no video editing, just less of the me that i was starting to really like in my life.
besides my car for my transportation i will be totally relying on others for the next few months.
i don't like that.

i know this is supposed to be a blog without complaints so i apologize for being such a negative nancy lately. i know it could be worse and im seriously grateful so much. when im in my room and driving i often think of all the things im grateful for that Gods given me. mainly its my mind being blown by how much He actually loves me the same today as he did when im a crappy person and that i have such beautiful wondering supportive friends.

sorry again this is all long winded and for breaking my own "no complaints" rule.

back to the regular program tomorrow.

oh, and something i found funny.... before leaving for tour for a month Geoff said, "i dont care if you move again because i wont be here to help you this time (evil cackle)!" welp buddy, guess what situation you just came home to! haha! sigh.... nothing makes or break a relationship like moving 3x in three months.

UPDATE

on sunday i found a place where june and i can live together in harmony once again. its literally right down the street from the sheshack, huge closet, the dude that owns and lives there is barely ever home since he works 80+ hrs a week, no other pets, rent is cheap, really clean older home, and im moving in THIS FRIDAY! so stoked! so blessed. i really pray that this place will work out for a while. im sure it will.
i miss having my dog around and i know shes missing us. geoff visited her earlier in the day at the kennel yesterday and it was her first time seeing him in a week and he said she practically knocked him down when she saw him. awwww... and when i went by there later to bring her more food i was on my way to class so i couldnt play with her this time and the lady that owns the place was telling me she was such a cuddle bug that day... :(
its weird playing with her at the kennel. supervised visits, rationed food, schedule play time. sorta like jail. shes going to need a bath so bad this weekend haha

so ya, things are starting to look up. maybe calm down a bit. that would be nice for a little bit.

thank you to everyone who was helping spread the word on finding june a place to stay. i really really appreciate it so much.

big thanks to geoffrey. it takes a special kind of boyfriend to help their girlfriend move twice in two weeks and not want to kill them afterward. well... actually the second time will be in a couple days so there still time for that to happen. meh... i rented a 14' u haul, a dollie and i have 1/4 of the amount of stuff to move this time so things will be easier.

happy veterans day to all you veterans! everybody else, happy 11/11

june messes up

so as most of you know by now June killed my roommate's dog. not just my roommate, but its the dude who owns the house im living in. this is what happened:

its Tuesday, 5:50am. i wake up in my new surroundings and get ready for the first time in my usual getting-ready-for-work routine. feed and put June outside like i normally would have at the sheshack. i hit no traffic and get to work in record time making it into my office by 7:15am.
at 10am i get a call from a number i don't recognize so i don't answer it. i figure its one of the many apartments i was talking to trying to sell me again. get a voice mail but don't bother to check it because i only worked a half day on Monday and am behind with work. i get another call from that number a few mins later but still don't answer it. i then check the voice mail and its Cecilia, one of my new roommates. Shes crying saying its an emergency. that June killed Paul. i drop my phone and call my moms extension. i tell her and she runs over to my building. i was chatting off and on with Geoff via gtalk and i tell him on there. he didn't know who Paul was. Paul is one of Ted's dogs. A lil old Yorkie dog that was cute and quiet. kept to himself kinda like a cat.

i call Cecilia back and we are both crying. i mean, just losing it over the phone. she says she doesn't know what happened but that June killed Paul and she doesn't know what to do and that shes sorry. im like, your sorry?! IM SORRY! she was blaming herself. not her fault whatsoever. she had called Ted before she called me (Ted has been out of town since Friday night in TX for work and Cecilia and Brian were taking care of his dogs) and i guess he was really pissed, upset and mad, understandably. but that he didn't think June did it out of aggression. Cecilia took a picture of Paul and sent it to Ted.

when i came home the cleaning ladies were there. June was sitting in the corner of the side yard. she didn't even come up to us till we called her. i couldn't even look at her, i was so upset. Geoff walks her to my car and my mom and i call Ted. He doesn't answer. i left him a voice mail saying that im so sorry and for him to call me back so we can talk about it and what he wants to do. He never called me back.

We took her to the corona shelter but all they could do was put her to sleep. that is not an option. so i try about 6 other shelters and they all say the same thing. if she had bitten a person she would have been in quarantine for 10days and had personality tests done on her but since she killed a dog she isn't adoptable by shelter standards so they would just put her down since they are so full. having no one that can look after her for me i take her to that pet hotel off Lincoln.

i picked her up from there yesterday and she was fine and they said she was a sweet heart the whole time she was there. they gave her all A's on her report card haha. they knew the whole situation so she stayed clear of all other dogs. but since that place is around $40/night i had to move her to a new place in Mira loma yesterday. its a nice family ran place that's less than half the cost plus her kennel is like 3x the size. so its better.

i finally got to talk to Ted last night. He was really sympathetic and understanding. He doesn't think June did it out of aggression because if she did the dog would have been tore up and He only had two holes, one on each side of his little body. And June knew she did wrong and hid and i guess when dogs snap and loose it they tend to stay kinda crazy right after and Cecilia said that she checked June right after and that she was acting scared and hid, not mean or anything like that.

let me just set this straight: June actually really likes the little dogs i live with A LOT. its so cute to see her get so excited to be around them and play with them. her and two of the other dogs would play chase and since they were the bigger-little dogs they could be rougher when they played but June never showed an ounce of aggression to any of them. even when they took her bone. she was more afraid of them then they were of her at first. she is just too big to live around that many dogs that are so much smaller than her.

as of now we are thinking up ways to keep her until i am able to buy my own place (and hopefully that can happen by the new year) or find another place to live w/o other dogs. If anyone would like to dog sit June or if you know someone who could give her a better home than i can please let me know. its a crappy reality that i don't want to have to face and that ive been crying over since Tuesday, but if i have to give her up i will. but only to someone that i know will take care of her and love her as much as i do.

so ya. that's what happened. that's whats going on.
if anyone is selling a dog run, hit me up!
if you or someone you know is looking for a cute friendly people dog, hit me up!
if you want to dog sit for a bit, i will cover ALL expenses.

cuteness overload: june doggy sings

so as you might have heard, June is the cutest freaking dog. one awesome thing about her is that she rarely barks and she says "heeyyy" when geoff or anyone of the girls come home. yes, she really grunts and makes a sound that sounds exactly like hey. i think she learned this from brenda because she screams HEEEYYY when someone comes through the door.
another adorable thing is how she howls at sirens when she thinks no one is around(i think she gets embarrassed about her voice). so geoff and i got the brilliant idea to download a siren app on our handy dandy iphones and this is what we got:

about 00:39 she gets into it.

just majestic.

and if it couldn't get any cuter... IT JUST DID:

head tilts + floppy bed ear = adorable overload.

is anyone else saying "so f---ing cute!!!" in their head or is that just me?

labor of love

cell phone dump of pictures from last weekend:

florida and kristina saving the day at Gods kitchen...
FL in God's Kitchen<span class=

then after that got my car washed at a fund raiser.
these guys were no joke. 6 people per car!
toaster wash

then drove out to linkfest. picked up a couple hitch hiking metal heads on the way. there was ZERO cell service so while i was hiking the sketch trails to the stages i thought i was arriving an hour and a half early. False. all of a sudden i hear thommy singing and guitars a blasting.
<span class=<span class=
got to see winds of plague and as i lay dying play. also saw tony from no doubt there.

finally got to eat at taco loco. delish late night snack but kinda on the pricey side for just mexican food.

worked a gorgeous reception on sunday at the huntington hyatt. i love working at the big hotels. the staff there is always so nice and super helpful. makes our job easier. this couple was really sweet and amanda transformed that ball room into a warm, intimate and love cave filled with custom gobo's, swanky vase' and TONS of white flowers.
First dance

got home around 3am to this:
passed out.

then woke up really late for this:
zombie brides
Sleeping Giant's music video!
zomblene
isnt jolene just the cutest zombie youve ever seen? haha cant do scary when youre that pretty

running around redlands in face paint in the blazing sun all day? why not!
it was a lot of fun and SOOOOOO many people came out later in the day for this one scene where we are just a mass of zombies running. T from White Collar Side Show was directing it and making it all. i saw some of the stuff they got of the guys the day before and its going to look creepsville. cant. freaking. wait. mama dawn says she thinks they are going to have a release party on halloween!

so ya, no rest this weekend. but i loved it allllll

be blessed!
